DIANA took part in the Air Cargo Challenge for the first time, in Stuttgart, with race number 26. It had been the team’s long-term goal since it was founded in 2022.

The aircraft was Eclipse: DIANA’s first made entirely of carbon fibre, with a 3,308 mm wingspan and the first flight controller ever fitted to a team aircraft. It finished 25th of 37.

It was heavier than planned and flew every round with 2 cans of payload, when the calculations allowed for 8. Problems with the current limiter cost points, and in the last round the speed controller burned out in flight and the aircraft had to make a forced landing. The full story is on the competition page.

The technical data, how it was built and what went wrong are on the Eclipse page, and the full technical report is in the library.
